Upon arrival at Naha AFB, I remember being greeted by a blast of heat getting off the plane. My Dad took us to our house and as I walked across the yard I crunched a million snails. I was distraught and blamed my father for ruining my life. After that, I only have fond memories. I was there 66-69. I went to school dances and remember SUmmertime being played a lot. Some guy in a band (he was tall) wrote a song about me. I worked at Camp Kue Hospital as a volunteer doing EKG's. I am...

As I was reading through the website I suddenly remembered my first year on Okinawa running through the grass barefoot after a very wet rain and suddenly stepping on and squishing not one or two but many snails! Suddenly I was in the middle of a mine field of snails taking advantage of the torrential rains. Never again would I run barefoot. Flip flops and zori's were the item of the day after that!
