Just for myself,Id like to see this junk just removed. I think it really makes for a bad impression to some new person who just finds us.

As Ron and I spoke we agreed on one thing. That was the remark of the GI house.
I don't know about all of you but when moving on base we were given some furniture etc. My Mom quickly replaced what she could with our own (I dont even recall how long it took to get our own stuff) and with things she got while there. It turned out quite nice with some effort.
I have no personal feelings of "being insulted" on that and really I think everyone no matter what rank your Dad was ended up with some pretty standard issue stuff on base. Maybe some were lucky to get a place who had a better yard or landscaping but there was always a papasan around to fix it for you.
Honestly..I had not even thought in the line of Colonel so and so has better govt issue furniture then Msgt so and so.
Besides..I didnt care. I think the GI house was just a general statement (it appeared to me this way) Something like "first apartment being "early grandmother " or something.

Another point...Im gettng to old for this banter anyway. It just doesnt seem there is enough time left anymore in my life to waste it on meanness.
