This is a message from the Bash coordinator: Wayne Tanigawa.
Here's the latest word on the Las Vegas Summer Bash, rockers... Yep, many good things have fallen into place to ensure that the Summer Bash in Las Vegas in gonna be something very very special, gang. Hell yes! And here is the absolute icing on the cake... Yep, the doc, "Doctor Dust" that is, Emmerson Edwards, and I have finally worked it out with the California Hotel to bring it all together for y'all on Saturday Night at the Summer Bash. Yep, we've worked out all of the details and can now state with assurance that the Saturday Night Farewell Dinner / Dance will definitely feature the incomparable, foot-stomping and soul-wrenching sounds of "Dust" to rock us deep into the night and into the wee hours of the morning.
Marking the very last time that this exciting group will ever step on stage to blow us away with their sounds, I am extremely happy that it will be at the very last Summer Bash that I'll be hosting for y'all as well. In truth, it feels terrific to be going out this way. And gang, I can't wait for it all to appen...
And soooooo..... this will be the final announcement that you will get from me regarding attendance at our Las Vegas Summer Bash. But for Dub Bauer's cajoling, I would have shut down sign-up at the end of May. But agreeing that we, Dragons, are procrastinators of the highest order, I, in turn, persuaded the California Hotel to give us a few extra weeks to send in our final count and payment.
But now the time is finally at hand for us to call it a day and to turn off the welcome light. So sincere thanks to all of you who've lent so much help and support to our effort, or "mahalo nui loa" as we say here in the islands to you: Anita, Dub, Dawn, Rinsei, Mike, Linnae, Irene, Emmerson, Jim, Mary and so many others. All the pieces are in place for us to have the party of a lifetime... so let's go for it! Owwwwww!
And for those of you that are still sitting at the station pondering whether to get aboard, be apprised that the train is starting to pull out now and will be outta sight in a very short while... preferably with you aboard, but without you if we must. All applications with full payments must be received by June 21st to be accepted for inclusion aboard the Summer Bash train.
Here's some bits and pieces for bash attendees:
* The Friday Seafood Fest has been changed from a group event into an individual one in order to permit attendees the flexibility of attending said gorge-out affair whenever and with whomever they choose to (between the hours of 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm or so). The change has been made in recognition that Friday is the most opportune day for most of us to sightsee and shop in the morning and afternoon, and to nightcrawl and dance in the evening with special friends... and having to come back to the hotel to dine at a specific time may prove inconvenient. Friday is also the day that the weekend attendees will be arriving to check in and to join us in partying. I shall have the special entry coupon for the Seafood Fest contained in your meal packets and will also kick back the additional entry fee required for you to get in.
* After discussion with Kathy Sankey, we've come up with what we believe is a terrific idea. If you have a cd or two that you simply gotta have the gang hear, bring it to the bash and our hospitality suites, baby, and we'll air it. Hell, you might even consider burning a cd of hits to bring with you instead of lugging multiple discs. Yeah, we're gonna have multiple stereo systems pumping out good hard rock in one room and smooth jazz and r&b in another. Hell yes!
* Yep, and while a number of us will be arriving one day early on Tuesday, July 31st, to purchase the considerable fine liquors, wine and beer that we'll be knocking down in our hospitality suites, quietly a mounting number of attendees are opting to come in one day early as well.
Do I smell a pre-party on Tuesday Night or what, gang? Mama!
* Word has it that the Downtown Fremont Street Experience, one short block away from where we're staying at the Cal, will be hosting various street events under the dome of their spectacular light show when we're there in the summer, including good ol' rock 'n roll to soothe our souls and rock our worlds.
* I shall disseminate more bash info as the time draws closer, gang, including a listing of sights, activities and shows that you might consider taking in during the course of our Summer Bash, so stay tuned, rockers.
* And finally for those of you with questions, you can e-mail me at: { wtanigawa@co.honolulu.hi.us } or telephone me during the weekdays at my office {808-523-4888}.
* Wit dat, I'm outta hea ma deah... to get maself a cold-assed beah! Owwwwww!
