Hey folks, thoughts and prayers are needed for one of our alumni Lynn Sherry Sposito. Her husband was involved in a motorcycle accident .The details are below. A hospital website is in the making will post when it is up For now please send strength for Lynne and her family!
Thank you for the kind words. Dick was riding his Harley (100
anniversary edition) on a beautiful day: A minivan or SUV of some sort
(I don't have the police report yet) pulled out of a side street in
front of him. He couldn't stop. Yes, he's in intensive. They have put
his hip back together as well as they can; he may need more surgery on
that leg later this week. The cervical spine fracture is aligned and
the neurosurgeon thinks he can go with just an Aspen collar for a few
months. I don't think there has been any extension of the numerous
small cranial bleeds but we are all keeping a close eye on that as he
has had some decrease in his level of conciousness and vomiting. You
can see on his eyes how terrifying that is for him with a neck brace
on: They are giving him some Zofran now so hopefully that won't
continue. He had two units of blood yesterday as his hemoglobin and
hematocrit have continued to drop some. He was a 7.1 yesterday for any
that may get this that are medical. Hopefully later on I'll have a web
site for you and our other friends to leave messages and I can just put
an update on there and whomever would like to know how he's doing can
check in. Thanks for all good thoughts, prayers sent his
way: Any and all spirituality is welcome!
Talk with you later,
Lynne
2nd update
I spoke with Lynne on Monday. She was in the family waiting room at the
intensive care hospital and went outside to talk. Yes, Dick is getting
better. He is awake and aware of his surroundings. He has spoken and
knows what day it is, etc. She sounded very strong and mentioned seeing
everyone in Duck just a couple of weeks ago and how we should all
cherish those times as we get older. The kids have stayed with Dick to
give her some down time. Her daughter Katherine (she has MS and is
pregnant) is having a lot nausea issues and the stress of the
situation makes it difficult for her. But is sounded as though the
family was holding it together-in large part because of the strength of
Lynne.
